Melanated Safaris was born from a passion to showcase the authentic beauty of Tanzania while creating meaningful impact for local communities. As a Tanzania-American owned company, we bridge cultures and build connections that transcend traditional tourism.

Every safari we design tells a story — of conservation, community empowerment, and cultural celebration. From the vast plains of the Serengeti to the pristine beaches of Zanzibar, we curate experiences that transform perspectives and leave both traveler and host richer in spirit.

Antoine Wilson

Born and raised in North Carolina, Antoine is an HBCU graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He relocated to Miami in 2007, where his love for travel took root, and now calls New York City home.

Antoine has traveled the world, but his heart always led him back to Africa. He partnered with Okello to create something extraordinary — and in January 2022, Melanated Safaris was born.

Taken aback by Tanzania's natural beauty, the warmth of its people, and his love for Africa, Antoine has become an expert at building deeply cultural, transformative travel experiences.

Okello Jao

Born at Aga Khan Hospital and raised in Tabata, Dar es Salaam, Okello has redefined the meaning of resilience, ambition, and success. His journey from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of the luxury safari industry is a masterclass in vision and excellence.

A graduate of the Centre for Foreign Relations & Diplomacy (CFR), Okello's expertise in international relations and cultural diplomacy laid the foundation for his future in high-end tourism.

Starting with a modest $100 monthly salary in camp operations, he mastered luxury safari tents and curated high-touch guest experiences before co-founding Melanated Safaris during COVID-19 — transforming adversity into extraordinary opportunity.
